It's that time of year again!
We all know it too well, and most of us dread it. <<WINTER>>. Dark cold nights are to follow and those winter blues experienced by many will come with it.
There are things we can do, though, that give us a feeling of cheer during these dark/cold months.
One really basic, and very delightful pastime, is the good old open fire. There's something really deep within us that loves to sit in silence and look into a warm open fire. It seems to bring an inside feeling of pure mesmorisation, joy and contentment.
After all, the human race must have been sitting around open fires for thousands, if not millions, of years. Our ancestors would have felt warm and secure next to a glowing fire.
Because of this I believe we have an inside affinity to the beautiful smells, colours and warmth that open fires bring.
According to government recommendations, it's very important to Keeping warm over the winter months to help prevent ilnesses such as colds and flu. Even more concerning is the threat of more serious health conditions such as pneumonia. As we are all too
aware, the most at risk are those with long term health conditions, as well as the elderly and the very young.
We now know there is a simple basic thing we can do to keep warm, stay healthy, feel joyful and make the best use of our heating at home this winter. The open fire place!
