Wow it’s May already and what a lovely time of year it is. Things are really starting to bloom outside as well as here on nanookie! We are building up well with the addition of new members and increased site visits. Our monthly traffic is increasing and we are continuing to grow at a pace.
At the moment we would like to get the nanookie “Chat” selection to become more of a community for shop owners and shoppers. There’s such a lot to benefit for all by getting involved. Sellers can put themselves and their business over to consumers so much more, and consumers can chat with other users and sellers alike. All users can find those all important recommendations from others and communicate on a greater level, whilst gaining trust and confidence from each other. So if you haven’t already, then go-ahead and start making friends and sending messages, recommendations, advice and Ideas today. I’m sure that once you get used to “Chat” and see its full potential, you will find it very beneficial indeed.
This month we are setting up a competition and hopefully continuing to run this monthly. We shall email everyone with the details. Everyone who is already signed up to nanookie will be automatically entered. The competition is open to anyone. All you need to do to enter is register on to nanookie as a shopper or a nanookie store owner. We shall draw the winner at the start of June. Good Luck!
Like many of us in the Uk we enjoyed watching the royal wedding last month. I thought Catherine Middleton looked stunning in her beautiful wedding dress. We wish them both the very best for their future together.
It is a popular time of year for weddings, and our nanookie store “Adornment by Gilli Reeves” has some wonderful wedding gifts. I’m a huge believer in gifts that are unique and believe they always give more meaning. A personalised gift makes it all the more wonderful and gives so much more meaning. Adornments handmade pillows can be personalised with a written verse, names, dates or quotations. A gift like this would mean so much and would stay with a happy couple for a life time.
This time of year also has lots of us thinking about making some changes to the home. I certainly do. We may love to get out and about in this wonderful sunshine we’ve been having recently but I’m sure you’ll agree that it’s always nice to get back home after a long day out. After all, home is where the heart is and where our comforts lie. For me, the centre of relaxation at home is my sofa. I just walk through my front door at the end of the day and head straight for my comfortable sofa and just slump down and relax for a little while. Before my children insist I move of course!

I think I’ll need some relaxation this month. I have three birthdays to prepare for. My own, my husband’s (Craig) and my daughters are all within 10 days of each other in May. How full-on is that! Well I’m not complaining because I’m sure they will make my birthday very special indeed. Mmmmh! My son’s birthday isn’t till September so at least we have more time to prepare for his party.
In the “nanookie recommends” section this month is our wonderful nanookie store “unique Kelso". We think they have some lovely unique handmade products. Unique Kelso produces one-of-a-kind keepsake items. Just one of my favourites is this handmade Bookcase/storage shelf, which can be personalised with a child’s name or words of your choice. Kelly (owner of Unique Kelso) works from her own studio, whilst looking after her 3 wonderful and boisterous (in her own words) boys.
In our featured flash video we have The Garden Room, who have a great selection of Danish, French, Chic Vintage and Contemporary items for the home and garden. We think The Garden Room have some wonderful garden furniture to make your garden a relaxing haven in this wonderful sunshine.

To make navigation to nanookie all the more simple, we have recently introduced a “nanookie button” for all our nanookie shop owners to place on their existing website should they wish to include it. It will make it easier for your site visitors to see, and click though to, your nanookie shop, buy your items, and show your online presence. Of course, this is totally optional and not compulsory that you use this facility.
The information for this and how to include it, however, will be sent thorough to all our nanookie stores very soon.
Nanookie has been writing articles about businesses and different products, and sharing them around the internet as part of our PR. If you would like to write an article to support your nanookie store or one of your products, or you may be passionate about a particular interest or hobby, then please submit it within your profile selection on nanookie. We will do the rest. From our own experience we have found that the most read articles are when the reader is given some information, help or advice on a subject. For example, we are currently working on an article about the benefits of giving children ‘time out’. Therefore at the bottom of the article we have included “The Naughty Seat”'s product the “Time out mat”, and a link to their shop and product. However, if you have an article relating to your shop and products then please submit it. Or it could be a link to your profile if you are writing about your interest or hobby. Articles are a great way of getting people interested in you and what your subject area is.
